To promote the final season of House of Cards, we created a series of stunts that blurred fiction and reality including a real commemorative plate complete with 24-carat gold details (and it’s own late-night infomercial).

 How do you promote a show when it’s most iconic character is killed off? You bury them.

Netflix wanted to get fans excited about the final season of the political thriller House of Cards, but there was a problem. After Kevin Spacey was fired for misconduct, the show’s most iconic character—Frank Underwood—was killed off. So we buried the fictional character with a real grave in his hometown of Gaffney, South Carolina where it will exist permanently.

An obituary for Frank was placed in the local newspaper, The Gaffney Ledger:
